Fiber Drawing

After characterization of the fiber preform, the polymer coated glass fiber is drawn in our fiber drawing tower.

The fibers can be drawn in a way that they preserve their initial geometry and a good mechanical performance optimized using our recipes. Like the preform production process, the drawing process of the glass preform in the drawing furnace is strictly controlled by our team. Especially, to control the diameter of the resulting fiber (80 um – 400 um), the speed of drawing and the furnace temperature is controlled every second since the glass cools rapidly. During the drawing, two different polymer coatings are applied to the fiber surface and cured using ultraviolet light.

We control the temperture and speed of drawing to sustain the diameter of final fiber.
