SUMMARY:Recent Development in Hollow-Core Optical Fiber
DESCRIPTION:\nHosted By: Fiber Modeling and Fabrication Technical Group\nHo
llow-core microstructured fibers (HCF) has now become a versatile tool for
applications ranging from low latency optical communication\, ultra-inten
se pulse delivery\, few-cycle pulse compression\, UV and mid-IR light gene
ration to biochemical sensing\, quantum optics and mid-IR to Terahertz wav
eguides. These applications call for better performance HCF in terms of lo
 ss\, bandwidth\, mode quality\, damage threshold\, etc.\n\n\n\n\n&nbsp\;In
this webinar\, Professor Yingying Wang of&nbsp\;Beijing University of Tec
hnology&nbsp\;will talk about the historical development\, the recent adva
nces and the future possibilities of HCF. She will show the improvement of
HCF optical properties in the last 20 years and application requirements.
In particular\, with the emphasis on the reduction of transmission loss i
n HCF\, which is one of the main target for optical fiber development.\n\n
What You Will Learn:\n\n How is light guided in a hollow-core\n How to m
ake a hollow-core microstructured fiber\n Why is hollow-core fiber useful
?\n Where can you use hollow-core fiber?\n What is the future of hollow-
 core fiber development?\n\nWho Should Attend:\n\n PhD students&nbsp\;\n
 Research Scientists\n\n\nRegister Now\n\nAbout the presenter(s):\n\nYingyi
ng Wang\, Beijing University of Technology\n\n\n\nYingying Wang obtained h
er Ph.D. degree from University of Bath\, UK in 2011. The Department of Ph
ysics\, University of Bath\, awarded the “Albert Freedman Prize” to Wa
ng’s Ph.D. thesis. She is currently an associate professor at&nbsp\;Inst
itute of Laser Engineering\, Beijing University of Technology\, in which h
er research interest lies on novel optical fiber design and fabrication. W
ang’s contributions on hollow-core hypocycloid-core Kagome fiber and hol
low-core conjoined-tube negative curvature fiber are well recognized by th
e microstructured fiber community. She has delivered many post deadline an
d invited talks in international conferences such as\, CLEO\, ECOC\, Photo
nics West\, CLEO-PR\, Advanced Photonics Congress and Workshop on Specialt
 y Optical Fiber. She has authored more than 30 technical papers with &gt\;
 500 total citations.&nbsp\;\n\n\n\n
